Yuvraj Singh :: retirement

India's swashbuckling all-rounder Yuvraj Singh announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket on Monday (June 10). In nearly two decades at the highest level, since his ODI debut against Kenya in 2000, Yuvraj featured in 40 Tests, 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is, while also playing a pivotal role in India's two big triumphs - the 2007 World T20 and the 2011 World Cup. In a press conference in Mumbai, the 37-year-old made the announcement, saying: "It's was great rollercoaster ride and beautiful story but it has to come to an end. It was the right time to go." Yuvraj was a product on the U-19 set up, impressing with 203 runs in the World Cup in 2000 and making his way to the senior side in less than a year. Though he turned heads with an 80-ball 84 in just his second ODI - against Australia, it wasn't until the run chase in the NatWest series final at the Lord's that made him a household name. A 63-ball 69 after a top-order collapse in chase of 327

The best teachers of BUET

According to me in 1996-2001 the best teacher in CSE, BUET was Prof. Dr. Kaykobad. Well this write up is a revenge write up, because this man has praised me relentlessly in so many places and often have given me a godlike status which I do not deserve. Sometimes it was pleasing and sometimes it was quite embarrassing. If I survive till age 80 (Very unlikely) I will write how it all became embarrassing, not now :). In my book an outstanding teacher needs to have two qualities (a) Have a good sense of humour (b) Have the capability to inspire his students and Dr. Kaykobad has these two qualities in plenty. In a place like BUET inspiring the students work best because almost any student can learn anything by himself if he/she tries seriously. To illustrate his sense of humour some of his remarks are enough. Once some students of a University asked Dr. Kaykobad so set an easier question paper in the Final exam. His witty reply was “I do not want do prove how bad you are by setting a

Who is responsible for GDPR compliance training in your organisation?

There’s no time for your colleagues to pass the buck or bury their heads in the sand. The GDPR comes into force on 25th May 2018 and applies to nearly every area of every organisation. It’s not just an IT issue: the GDPR impacts HR , legal, marketing, procurement, training and security. It’s therefore key that your Board or management team takes ownership of GDPR compliance and considers all these areas of the business. GDPR is everyone’s business. Your HR team is responsible for making sure that employees are aware of their responsibilities in managing data as an asset. HR needs to include this information in their employment contract, starter information and induction program. They may need to ask new joiners for consent for DBS checks and DVLA checks. Similarly, HR may need authorization to process data for payroll, in which case HR needs to make it clear that personal data will not be misused.

Paper Records Disposal Still a Big Problem

Image
The recent discovery of stacks of paper patient records in dumpsters at an Ohio recycling center offers an important reminder: Any effort to safeguard patient information must include not just high-tech breach prevention measures but also proper policies on the disposal of paper records. Unfortunately, breaches involving improper disposal of paper or electronic records are common . A snapshot of the Department of Health and Human Services' "wall of shame" website listing health data breaches affecting 500 or more individuals shows that since September 2009, there have been at least 52 incidents involving improper disposal of paper, X-ray film or electronic media containing PHI. If you rely on your workforce to put confidential information in appropriate bins, you may need to repeat training on the point regularly and get your hands dirty with audits of trash and recycling. Recycling bins can be particularly problematic, as many employees may incorrectly assume
